Chiropractic & Reiki
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the science, art, and philosophy of locating and adjusting subluxations. Subluxations are misalignments in the joints of the body that interfere with the body’s nerve energy flow and innate ability to heal and function optimally. When there is interference in the nervous system, nerve energy is blocked and inhibited from flowing freely, causing dysfunction, degeneration, disorder, and dis-ease in the organs, joints, tissues, and ultimately the whole body (hence chiropractic being holistic). Adjustments remove the barriers in the nervous system so that one can become reconnected to their life-force energy, heal, and thrive.
What is Reiki?
The clinical definition of Reiki is that it is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki is based on the idea that there is a life-force energy that flows through us as well. Rei, means “Spirit,” and Ki “means “Life-force energy,” so Reiki can be translated to “spiritually guided life-force energy.” Ki, which is also known as Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit, Ti or Ki in Hawaiian, and biofield in science, flows through the chakras, meridians, and nadis, and can be present and passed through the organs and tissues in the body. When the flow of healthy ki is disrupted, it causes diminished functioning within the organs, tissues, and body. It is the disruption of flow that is the cause of illness.
So what does a Chiropractic and Reiki session look like?
Cypress’ Chiropractic & Reiki session starts with chiropractic. In this case, Dr. Sarah will analyze, locate, and adjust your subluxations so that your life-force energy can flow freely. After the chiropractic adjustments, the rest of the session will be in the Reiki Room. In this space the lighting is dim and the music is relaxing and peaceful. You will lay, fully-clothed and face-up on a massage table, with optional knee bolster, table warmer, and blanket. It’s important to be comfortable and calm so that the Reiki Energy can flow through. Reiki is administered by “laying of the hands.” Dr. Sarah will hold certain hand positions lightly over different areas of the body as the Reiki energy flows through her hands into you.
Reiki is guided by spiritual consciousness and with its own wisdom, rather than requiring direction of the practitioner. Reiki comes from a place of love, compassion, and kindness.
It is safe to say that, Chiropractic and Reiki share several similarities in their approach to healing and holistic well-being. Both practices operate on the premise that the body possesses innate healing abilities and that restoring balance is vital to promoting optimal health. Both chiropractic and Reiki follow a non-invasive approach, utilizing gentle, hands-on techniques to facilitate healing. Moreover, both modalities focus on the concept of energy flow within the body. Chiropractic adjustments aim to align the spine, removing any blockages that impede the body's natural energy flow within the nervous system. Similarly, Reiki practitioners use their hands to channel energy, aiming to remove energy blockages in the Ki. Ultimately, these complementary techniques offer individuals alternative pathways to restore harmony and enhance overall wellness.
